Technology Application

Using methanol as raw material, crude hydrogen (mainly CO2, H2, and trace CO, CH4) is produced by steam cracking process, and then purified by pressure swing adsorption technology to obtain hydrogen with purity meeting the requirements of users.
The raw methanol and raw desalted water are premixed at a certain ratio, pressurized by metering pump, preheated, gasified and superheated, and then enter the reactor. Under the action of catalyst, the reaction is carried out to generate crude hydrogen. After heat exchange, the heat is recovered, cooled, and then enter the pressure swing adsorption device for final purification.

As can be seen from the Langmuir isothermal adsorption equation from, at a certain temperature, the desorption is completed by reducing the pressure. Common desorption methods are atmospheric desorption and vacuum desorption, which purpose is to reduce the partial pressure of adsorbate. The adsorption and desorption of as shown in the illustration:

Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) and temperature swing adsorption (TSA) purification process is realized by two properties of adsorbent in the physical adsorption: one is the different adsorption capacity of different components, the two is the adsorption capacity of adsorbate on the adsorbent increases with partial pressure and decrease with increasing adsorption temperature. The first property of the adsorbent, may realize the preferential adsorption of impurity components containing in hydrogen syn-gas for hydrogen purification purposes; for the second property, can achieve adsorbing at high pressure and low temperature, desorbing in low pressure and high temperature. This cycle of adsorption and regeneration achieve the purpose of continuous hydrogen purification. But decrease with increasing adsorption temperature.
